v18 MilkDrop problems

$

Hi I have tried MilkDrop and MilkDrop2 with PVR Radio in Kodi but they both seem to cause Kodi to hang without a crash dump.  I am using PVR Radio as the source and a few other testing a new version are reporting this as well.  Spectrum seems to work ok.

In general are the MilkDrop visualizations running well on Leia with W10 64?

How to get boolean from settings.xml to visible tag in main screensaver xml

Hey, so Im building a screensaver and need a point in the right direction, I would like to have an option to disable an overlay in my settings.xml, setting the boolean and retrieving it in my script file is fine, what I dont understand is how to get the boolean to a `<visible></visible>` in the screensavers xml file. Can any one point me in the right direction.

Secondly and maybe more complicated, is I would then like it to be possible to give a user a number of color options for that overlay, also fro m the settings.xml. So similar problem, I dont know how and kinda stuck. Linked the repo below in case its needed.

Thanks!

v17 - Milkdrop2 for 17.6 Kodi x64 Windows build?

$

Is it possible? I'm currently still using Kodi 17.6 in its DSPlayer fork. Milkdrop2 was working fine for the x86 build but it doesn't work for the x64 build.

I've tried copying the x64 dll from a Kodi 18 installation but the log says:

WARNING: Win32DllLoader::ResolveExport - Unable to resolve: I:\Kodi DSPlayer x64\portable_data\addons\visualization.milkdrop2\visualization.milkdrop2.dll ADDON_Stop
ERROR: Unable to resolve exports from dll I:\Kodi DSPlayer x64\portable_data\addons\visualization.milkdrop2\visualization.milkdrop2.dll

By looking at the contents of the addon folder it seems pretty much "self contained" but I've noticed that the x64 addon.xml for Kodi Leia references this:

  <requires>
<import addon="kodi.binary.global.main" version="1.0.13"/>
<import addon="kodi.binary.instance.visualization" version="2.0.1"/></requires>

Which is absent from the 17.6 x86 version. Is it then impossible to have Milkdrop 2 on an x64 build of Kodi 17.6?
Maybe the .dll "expects" stuff from the two above referenced addons?

I ask because I seem to remember that x64 builds were available as nightlies for "regular" Krypton and not just DSPlayer. But I don't remember if they included Milkdrop2.

Release - DVD Screensaver

With newer TVs we have to worry about burn-in, with that in mind I have remade a simple screensaver that most all of use have seen. DVD Screensaver is throw back to those dvd players of our past with the logo bouncing around the screen. I have added a like twist allowing you to choose from few different logos, "which can be updated to include more defaults if anyone has any recommendations with images". Also you can use your own custom logos. The logo are sized the same as the clear-logos from fanart.tv so you can use your favorite Movie or TV show logo.

You can download it from here.

I plan on releasing more add-ons in the future as part of a project I am calling Evolve Ecosystem, if you would like this add-on to be auto-updated and have easy access to future add-ons you can install the Evolve Ecosystem Repository

Beta - Apple 4K TV: Aerial Screensavers

I will soon be releasing a beta version of Apple TV: Aerial Screensaver that include the new ISS videos along with the location data being displayed as the video is played. As of now it will only stream the video as i have not yet enabled the download feature. I will also be adding the play next and show location with user input as i get more time to develop it. I am thinking of using a custom font as well but it will be a little more it implement and we will have to see how the feedback goes. It is beta so keep that in mind.

Also i know there is an official Aerial addon. As a disclaimer if you want stability use that, I wanted the new features and videos and i enjoy learning to code so for me this is a fun little project that i have been working.

Direct link to Addon:

For Auto-Updates Install My repo:

I plan on adding local video support so that you do not have to stream these every time. When that is add you will have the choice between 1080 and 4k SDR video to download. As of now your streaming 1080 H.264 videos.
Once I have the local video support working I plan on allowing you to add custom videos as well. in the setting you will see all of the extra settings disabled until i have time to properly implement them.

I hope you enjoy!

ubuntu ppa build of kodi-visualization-*

Hi, I hope I post in the good forum. I very much enjoy kodi visualization but on my new build based on ubuntu Disco I realize not much work. So basically I have two question :

1- On the PPA page I see that there is only shadertoy but if you filter to cosmic, you then have projectm and spectrum. With bionic, artful, xenial and trusty all visualisation that got ported to debian are there. So what I did is download the latest available .deb and install it with dpkg. Unfortunately, they all crash or display nothing at all. Except for spectrum, but it's, let's say, not my favorite. Do you think what I did was an bad idea or I have another problem ? Could it be the skin ? I did try embuary and binge titan on leia 18.3, maybe I should try with estuary skin. I use amdgpu with an hd 6450 card, but then again, is this the good channel for os and hardware specific question ?

2- My second questions is about the kodi ppa repository. How does it work, do you think that over time more visualization will make it to disco ? This release is already 5 month old. Maybe they do not put newer release if older version are compatible (as dpkg didnt found dependency issues)? I really have no idea, I'm new to ubuntu and use it because it support well kodi and provide a solid htpc, but at some point I'm a bit lost.

Btw kudos to this thread I found it's very useful, maybe we should add missing visualization screenshot.

Kodi crashes after upgrading ProjectM to 3.1.1

Kodi crashes when entering fullscreen mode (also when switching to main menu in Kodi) after upgrading ProjectM (kodi-visualization-projectm, libprojectm3, projectm-data).

Installed versions are:
Code:
kodi-visualization-projectm                   2.3.0-1~bionic
libprojectm3                                  3.1.1+rc4-0~bionic
projectm-data                                 3.1.1+rc4-0~bionic

Here's the full crashlog

I saw that there was a commit which introduced preset_folders and in my preset directory there are those also listed.
The crash happens in "LibraryPreset::~LibraryPreset()" so I'm not sure if it's related, in general ProjectM still works, but when entering fullscreen visualisation, Kodi crashes.

v18 - since the last Update of Milkdrop 2 several presets are missing. + crashs while chang

since the last Update (Milkdrop 2 - 2.1.3), several presets are missing.

i.e.:
"martin - night cathedral"
"martin - moonlight splash"
"martin - butterflies"
"martin - liquid gold"
"martin - night in the forrest"
"martin - sunset over the river"
and so on.

it also ofthen crash now, when switching/changing presets.

@AlwinEsch?

(Did already had a look at Github, but it seems i cant report the "*issue" right there.

EDIT:
looks as its much worse! even hitting the "i" (Info key) in MusicVisualisation.xml lets Kodi Crash if the Visualisation is enabled. (Music from Kodi's musicDB, Kodi 18.4, Win10)

I guess the Crashes (also with the older Version) if a PVR Radio stream is playing, are knewn. -> 341125 (thread) (on my end, i use Mediaportal as TV Server).
Guess thows where introduced around krypton (guess something changed there how the Player handles streams, how ever cant thel if its related to it.)

EDIT2:
What defnetly is on the "pro" side, is that the both Milkdrop Visualisation do (beside the PVR-Radio crash) actualy Work. "Vortex" and "Shadertoy" are in much, much worse shape -> almost instand Crashs Kodi.
this is one of the reasons my bet goes to the Milkdrop visualisdations.

No 'kodi-visualization-projectm' build in (stable) Kodi-PPA for Ubuntu 19.10

I just upgraded from Ubuntu 18.10 to 19.04 and wanted to go further up to 19.10 when I saw that there is no package in the PPA for projectm in 19.10 so I stopped at 19.04.
Other visualizations can be found for 19.10.
Is it just coincidence and was forgotten or are there problems with 19.10 and projectm?

@wsnipex maybe you could enlighten me Smile

How to quit basic screensaver using code?

$

I have developed a ridiculously simple screensaver that runs PseudoTV Live when activated, basically for the purpose of if a person sits on the main menu, it "exits to tv".

Of course I added simple code to make sure that it doesn't try to load PTV again if the video is paused, since technically Kodi will activate the screensaver if video is paused for too long, even while PTV is running.

So this all works so far, but it has one minor annoyance that I would like to do away with.  If I am playing video and I pause it, my code works as it should, the video stays paused and nothing happens.  The only exception is when I press play nothing happens, I then have to press play a second time and the video resumes.  I believe that the reason for this is even though in my code, because video is currently playing, it chooses not to load PTV or do anything, the screensaver itself is at this point technically running.  Meaning that when I press play, I have then exited out of the screensaver, and now I have to press play again to resume the video.

So my question is.  Using python, how do I simply exit the screensaver itself through code?  I already used self.close(), but I still get this issue, so I assume that it is still not closing.

This is my code:
import xbmc, os, sys

if bool(xbmc.getCondVisibility("Player.Paused")):
    self.close()
else:
    xbmc.executebuiltin('XBMC.RunAddon(script.pseudotv.live)')

ProjectM Shuffle Mode

Why can I set a path to a single preset, turn off shuffle mode and after the set alotted time, say 50 seconds, it still tries to do something (I assume shuffle) and the screen messes up. Have to hit the back button to get it to start working correct again. Is there any way to actually turn off the shuffle completely, even by editing code somewhere?

ProjectM version 2.3.2.1 : Stuck on default ( fractal M headphones ) visualization...

I wanted to show some of Kodi's amazing capabilities to my relatives during the Thanksgiving Holiday and just upgraded to LibreELEC 9.2.0 as well as removed ( including related data / settings ) + reinstalled the add-on ( hoping that this would resolve the issue ) -- but , the behavior persists.

Previous versions of ProjectM seemed to worked without issue. Is it possible to roll-back to an older version of the add-on ?

Thanks in advance to anyone whom may have a possible workaround / solution..

LibreELEC 9.2.0 : projectM version 2.3.4.1 "freezing" requiring reboot

https://github.com/projectM-visualizer/p...issues/295

Team Kodi released a slightly newer version of projectM a couple of days ago. Unfortunately , it looks like the ProjectM version 2.3.4.1 add-on for LibreELEC is still affected by the "rendering freeze after preset change" issue ( #243 ) as well as the presets folder structure issue.

While it is possible to replace the existing
Code:
/storage/.kodi/addons/visualization.projectm/resources/projectM/presets
 with the new presets folder structure , visualizations only display for approximately 20 seconds before freezing.

ProjectM freezing seems to leave the Kodi interface completely unresponsive to any navigation input which then requires a full reboot of LibreELEC...

ProjectM: Best preset for someone with epilepsy?

Currently using 18.6 on my Nvidia Shield TV which is running fantastic. And yes ProjectM works great on this device. But one problem I am encountering is the fact that ProjectM has a lot of visualisations that are not friendly with someone with epilepsy such as my girlfriend. Is there an recommended preset that removes all the heavy flashing seizure inducing ones so she can enjoy the beautifulness of ProjectM? Thanks so much in advance for any and all advice.

ProjectM and other Visualizations from PPA for Focal 20.04

Hey guys,

is anyone of you able to install projectm from stable ppa under ubunut 20.04? The web page shows the packages as available for Focal but I can't find them with apt-cache search and also cannot install them.

Are they broken somehow and not available? Just wondering since the ppa page shows them in the package list for Focal.

Thanks,

raptor

Will Kodi ever support 4k screensavers?  Videos are at 4k so why can't the UI be in 4k?

ProjectM or Milkdrop2 for Nvidia Shield?

I'm trying to get high quality visualizations with music on my shield.  I'm running kodi 18.9, I installed ProjectM but the quality is no where near what milkdrop 2.28 looks like with Winamp on my pc.  No/hardly any 3d or complex geometries - just really basic dull visuals.  I tried different presets but they didn't seem to add anything better.  Is it because the hardware can't render quality 3d, or do I need to install milkdrop instead?  I couldn't find it under visual add-ons.
